What is IR (Infrared) ?
Infrared (IR) refers to a type of electromagnetic radiation with wavelengths longer than visible light but shorter than microwaves, typically ranging from 700 nanometers to 1 millimeter. While invisible to the human eye, infrared light can be detected by electronic sensors and is widely used in remote control and sensing technologies.
In LED lighting control systems, IR technology is most commonly applied in infrared remote controls, which transmit signals through invisible light pulses. These signals are received by an IR sensor on the lighting controller or dimmer, allowing users to adjust brightness, color temperature, or switch lighting modes without physical contact. IR control is valued for its simplicity, cost-effectiveness, and reliable short-range communication, typically effective within 5–10 meters in direct line of sight.
